Greetings in the blessed name of the Lord Jesus.
If you are searching for a church home, we'd like you to know that there's a
special place here just for you. We hope our web site will provide just
what you need to know concerning the ministry and mission of Deltona Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ).
Join us for worship on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
and on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. and we will do all we can to nurture both you
and your children.
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to build up
the body of
Christ.
From Our Pastor: Where Are We Heading?
Where Are We Heading?
At our March Board
Meeting, we chose four goals to work toward accomplishing as our response to
what we feel God is calling our congregation to do in ministry during the
remainder of this year.
2008 Goals for Deltona Christian Church
⇒Our
Evangelism Ministry will mobilize our Congregation in response to the Great
Commission by adding 20 new members by December 31, 2008.
⇒Our
Stewardship Ministry will promote a Capital Campaign for our congregation
by August 1, 2008 designed to pay off the mortgage on our Fellowship Hall
by the 45th Anniversary on February 1, 2009 and develop a priority list of
future capital projects.
⇒Our
Outreach Ministry and our Elders will initiate at least two (2) support
groups that would meet at DCC by October 31, 2008.
⇒Our
Outreach and Evangelism Ministries will initiate a Youth Outreach by May 31,
2008 to partner with other churches, provide our facilities on a regular
basis, and have at least 3 of our members present during events. (i.e..,
Concerts, Game nights, Movie Night, etc.)
I think it was Dale
Carnegie that once said,
“Life without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
A rudder-less ship is
at the mercy of the winds and waves.
The Board intends to set our sails and keep our eye on the goals and steer
this church in a direction that will share good news, invite people into a
relationship with Christ, and reach out into the community to meet the needs
of youth and adults, as well as consider being effective stewards of our
financial resources.
These goals are not
the only things we will be doing in ministry, but will be ones that are
measurable and doable.
I intend to invest
some of my time preaching and teaching evangelistic sermons that will help
people connect with God and the prophetic call to “do justice, love mercy
and walk humbly with our God.”
I want to urge our congregation to provide at least 20 - 25 members and
friends to attend the upcoming F.A.I.T.H. Nehemiah Action Assembly on April
28th. We need at least 20 folks to sacrifice one evening to work for
justice in Volusia County.
Since this is “Leap
Year” everyone has an extra day to use this year. I want you to consider
using this one evening to invest in justice as we tackle a “Mental Health”
issue in 2008 with our partner congregations in F.A.I.T.H. Mark your
calendar and plan on carpooling on April 28th.
Let’s all get behind
the Board and work to make these 2008 goals a reality. I will do my part.
How about YOU?
God’s servant and yours,
Pastor J. C. Steele
